All the faces that I once knew
And all the things I used to do
Seem just memories, distant in the past
The more I live I know, nothing ever lasts
So many changes, and I can’t keep up the pace
I no longer really, recognize this place
Feel like I’ve lost something, I can’t get back
Try to make a mansion, from this one room shack.

But I’m not sure If I know the way
If I’ll see the sunshine on a brighter day
Since saying goodbye now, just seems so wrong
Promise to meet again, and only say so long.

Go to the store, and try to find a map
See if there’s a road somewhere, that can take me back.
I’m not sure when I left, that the right time had come
There still so many things, I wish I had done.
I told myself, I’d live without regret
My end of the deal, Isn’t upheld yet
So I raise my glass, to the past that I once knew
And wonder why, we’re all through.

CHORUS

Memories grow, blurry as they get old
Can’t remember secrets, so they’ll never be told
Realizing now, I went ahead far to fast
Didn’t live in present, and I can’t go back.
Every now and then, run into an old friend.
Wishing our brief conversation, won’t ever end.
Just say goodbye, and make the walk back home.
Life I raced to get, I now spend alone.

CHORUS

Miles between us, get farther every day
Looking back I only wish, we found a better way
Friendships and memories, quickly ripped apart
Lifes a journey you never finish, if you don’t take the time to start
I only wish it could, be like it was again
But the place where you finish, is seldom where you begin.
Someday it’ll all be right, hardships dead and gone.
‘Till that day we won’t say goodbye, we’ll only say so long.

MODIFIED CHORUS

Now I think that I’ve found the way
To witness the horizon of a brighter day
Since good byes and never good, and the job is never done
Remember our time apart, can only be so long.
